Roughly 30 days after the onion seed plant, A&M Farms trims (mows) the tops of their onion leaves. This is mainly done to strengthen the neck of the onion, as – over the coming months – the leaves will grow in length, size & weight. The other small advantage of trimming the tops is airflow & increased sunlight to the root/base of the stalk.
